Last weekend PLA’s very own Megan Quigley competed in Brick Factor, a competition to find LEGOLAND Boston’s next Master Builder. The two-day competition was held at the Boston Public Library Main Branch, drawing over 100 competitors from all over the country. The LEGO experts were vying for the opportunity to become the coveted Master Model Builder for Boston’s brand new LEGOLAND Discovery Center opening in Somerville this spring. Last week the Sturbridge Commercial Tourist District (CTD) Improvement Plan was unanimously approved by the Town of Sturbridge Planning Board. PLA has been a part of the team that created the plan – along with McCabe Enterprises (Economic Development), Shadley Associates (Landscape Architecture), and led by Pare Corporation (Traffic Engineering). The two-mile-long CTD, along the route 20 corridor, includes one of Central Massachusetts’ biggest tourism draws, Old Sturbridge Village. What better way to start off the New Year than going through some of our current projects under construction. Last week we gave a quick update on the H-Max Project in Shaoxing, China. Today’s update comes from New Jersey, where PLA has been working with The Medicines Company to design and construct a medical learning and education center (aka “the Lab”). The Lab will use simulation to shape the development of foundational health science, technology choices, process of care, as well as the behaviors of care providers. Happy New Year from PLA! We hope everyone has a wonderful (and well-designed) year. It should be an exciting year for one of the largest projects currently under construction here at PLA – H-Max City, a 1.5 million SF mixed-use project located in Shaoxing, China. The uses include hotels, urban villas, shops, restaurants, teahouses, theaters (including an IMAX), a department store and even several luxury car showrooms (a popular attraction in Shoaxing!)
