PLA Day Trip to Armstrong World Industries in Baltimore, MD (Plus a Sox Game!)

Last Friday, PLA team members Matt Uminski and Josh McDonald were generously invited by Worthington-Armstrong Joint Venture (WAVE) (also knows as ‘Armstrong World Industries’)  to visit their manufacturing facility in Baltimore, Maryland (www.armstrong.com). Josh and Matt flew down to Baltimore for a great tour of the plant and learn more about the Armstrong line of products. In addition, they were invited to see at Red Sox / Orioles game at Camden Yards.  After a great game and overnight stay at one of Baltimore’s downtown hotels, they flew back to Boston, all courtesy of WAVE.  Here is a big THANK YOU … Continued

Annual PLA Staff Hike to Mount Wachusett!

With a chance to gain some fresh air and head out of the office for a day, the PLA crew (missing a few key members due to sporting injuries) were anxious to head up the 2,005 ft. high mountain. Climbing one of New England’s many mountains provided PLA staff members the opportunity to bond with colleagues, while also getting some healthy exercise. PLA Visits Wilson’s Farm in Lexington, MA

As part of our efforts to continually improve and enhance PLA’s work environment and business practices, we reach out to successful businesses of all types and arrange for tours and follow-up discussions with their owners and/or managers. Besides getting the PLA team out of the office as a group, this is an opportunity for our team to witness first-hand the strategies that contribute to a business environment’s success. Phillips Exeter Academy Library

On a picture perfect New England summer morning, five junior members of the PLA team joined Paul Lukez, in visiting the Phillips Exeter Academy Library in Exeter, New Hampshire, famously designed by Louis Kahn. Why were we on-site at the “Class of 1945 Library” last Friday? We were making a pilgrimage to one of the great libraries in the US to study and observe how the master-architect, Louis Kahn, designed this great brick library.
